Festival of Iranian Film in Prague announces winners

Festival of Iranian Film in Prague, Czech Republic, announces the winners.

The 6th edition of the Festival of Iranian Film in Prague, Czech Republic, has announced the winners of Jury Award and Audience Award.

‘Valderama’ directed by Abbas Amini received the Best Film Award selected by the jury at this edition of the event.

The movie is about an Iranian boy in the southwestern city of Abadan whose curly blond hair looks like the famous former Colombian football player Carlos Valderama, so he is called by the same name.

The international jury panel of the festival includes Iranian director Rakhshan Bani-Etemad, international director and critic Ronald Bergan and Czech producer Jan Macola.

The award of the Best Film selected by the audience went to ‘The Salesman’ by acclaimed Iranian director Asghar Farhadi.

The main part of the festival screened 10 movies in competition section, including ‘I’ by Soheil Beiraqi, ‘Immortal’ by Hadi Mohaqeq, ‘The Salesman’ by Asghar Farhadi, ‘Sound and Fury’ by Houman Seyyedi, ‘Valderama’ by Abbas Amini, ‘Nahid’ by and Ida Panahandeh.

The Special Screening section of the event presented ‘Bitter Dream’ by Mohsen Amir-Yousefi and ‘Like Someone in Love’ by late filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami.

It also screened six documentaries from Iran, including ‘Sonita’ by Rokhsareh Qaemmaqami, ‘Starless Dreams’ by Mehrdad Oskouei, and ‘Mr. Jobless’ by Ali Hamraz.

Another section of the event is dedicated to Iranian documentaries displayed six works, including ‘Aram’ by Fereshteh Parnian, ‘Gambler’ by Karim Lakzadeh, ‘Elegy’ by Yousef Kargar, ‘Survival’ by Masoud Hatami, and ‘Ardak’ by Esmaeil Monsef.

The 6th edition of the Festival of Iranian Film in Prague was held on January 10-15 in the Czech capital, while it is slated to be continued in Brno and Bratislava.
